Open sewers

This is to draw the attention of the relevant authorities to the issue of open sewers in Malir, Karachi. This is one of the most serious concerns for the people of the area since a number of accidents have occurred because of open manholes. It has now become a common practise for a few individuals to steal the covers manholes. An official complaint was also lodged but nothing has been done to date.
Open sewers pose major threat during rain. These sewers remain covered under stagnant water and create the dangerous possibility of a passerby falling into the sewer. The concerned authorities are requested to take serious measures to stop this practice. Manholes should be covered with fixed lids so that they cannot be stolen.
