AAO accused of setting up office at his residence
From Our Correspondent
JHANG: Contractors of the Roads Department have accused the assistant accounts officer (AAO) of establishing the office at his residence.
In a letter to the auditor general of Pakistan, the accountant general of Punjab and other high-ups concerned, the contractors, including Arshad, Arif, Mustafa, Atif, Gulzar and Altaf, said that the Accounts Department had assigned the duty of re-auditing of all bills/payments of the department to the AAO. As per the policy guidelines, the AAO was allotted a separate office, they said, adding that required staff was also provided to him for the purpose, but he allegedly set up the office at his house. They alleged that the AAO had started summoning official record, staffers and contractors at his residence.
When contacted, AAO Muhammad Rashid said that he was residing in an official house at District Council Colony. He claimed that his superiors never objected to utilise official residential building for discharging the official duty. He said that he never called and met any contactor at his residence.
