Punjab, Engro join hands to boost wheat campaign

KARACHI: Engro Fertilisers and the Agriculture Department of Punjab held a Kissan Convention in Bahawalpur to support the province’s wheat cultivation drive, drawing more than 600 farmers and senior government officials.

According to a statement on Monday, the gathering highlighted the push for modern, sustainable farming methods to help growers improve yields and strengthen Punjab’s agricultural output.

As part of the government’s flood rehabilitation effort, Engro Fertilizers distributed high-quality wheat and vegetable seeds free of cost to 2,737 flood-affected farmers, enabling timely sowing for the Rabi season.

The event also marked the launch of the Engro Markaz outlet in Bahawalpur, a new hub offering farmers direct access to agri-advisory services, technical support, and digital tools designed to improve on-farm decision-making.

Vice President Commercial at Engro Fertilizers Atif Mohammad Ali said the partnership with the Punjab government reflects a shared commitment to equipping farmers with the knowledge and inputs needed for long-term growth.

Provincial Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Shah Kirmani said the collaboration will support the government’s efforts to enhance food security and improve farmer livelihoods. Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo added that coordinated public-private initiatives will help drive innovation and ensure the chief minister’s agricultural priorities are met.

Strong participation from farmers, experts and officials underscored the growing role of such collaborations in strengthening Pakistan’s agricultural resilience and productivity.
