Ch Tanveer sent to jail on judicial remand
Tanveer presented in court by an ambulance from Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology
RAWALPINDI: Civil Judge Rawalpindi Ahsan Raza has sent former PMLN leader Chaudhry Tanveer, who had been nominated in the murder case of former PTI member of provincial assembly Adnan Chaudhry, to the Adiala Jail on judicial remand after his 2-day physical remand was completed.
The court rejected the police request for another 7-day physical remand. Tanveer was presented in the court by an ambulance from the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. Additional police personnel were deployed around the judicial complex. Tanveer’s lawyer Waheed Anjum and the plaintiff’s lawyer Shahid Ali Shahzad were present.
The investigation officer, Tanveer Ashraf, while requesting an additional 7-day physical remand, took the position that under the order of the high court, the accused was taken to the RIC on June 17 for a medical examination, where he was admitted, while the court rejected the recovery of his mobile phone. The accused was remanded for two days on June 18, but since he understands the nature of the recovery of the mobile phone, he is deliberately using laziness in the recovery of the phone, while the recovery is very important for investigations. Therefore, the accused should be remanded in police custody for another seven days.
The accused’s lawyer opposed further physical remand. However, the court rejected the request for further physical remand and sent the accused to jail on judicial remand, directing that he be presented in court again on July 4.
It should be remembered that the Civil Lines Police Station had registered a case against Chaudhry Tanveer, his sons, National Assembly members Chaudhry Daniyal and Osama Tanveer Chaudhry, and Chaudhry Changez on February 12 last year on the charge of murdering Chaudhry Adnan.
