Vin Diesel brings 'Fast & Furious' family reunion to Cannes
Vin Diesel is all smiles at the special screening of 'Fast and Furious' on its 25th anniversary
Vin Diesel arrived high on excitement for a special screening of The Fast and the Furious at Cannes.
The 2001 underground street-racing flick, which launched a franchise worth over $1 billion, marks its 25th anniversary.
As a tribute, scores of stars from the film series arrived at the film festival, including Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster.
Accompanying them is the daughter of late actor Paul Walker, who died in a car accident in 2013.
The Fast and the Furious will screen at midnight and will provide a boost to Cannes, which, it seems, is in dire need of big-budget Hollywood movies.
The premiere comes hot on the heels of the Fast saga expanding into television; a series at Peacock is in the works.
In a multi-billion dollar franchise, The Fast and the Furious spawned 11 movies, multiple spin-offs, animated shows, toys, and video games.
The series grew to include several A-listers: Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, John Cena, Charlize Theron, Jason Momoa, and Helen Mirren.
The 11th installment was previously titled Fast X: Part 2, which will hit cinemas in 2027.
However, delays in script changes, questions over budget, and strikes in the industry pushed back the movie's release.
