Three missing Hindu girls recovered from Karachi
Three underage Hindu girls who had mysteriously gone missing from Shahdadpur recently have been recovered from Karachi.
Officials said on Thursday that Dr Lal Chand Ukrani, special assistant to the chief minister of Sindh on minority affairs, had taken serious notice of the incident and directed law enforcement agencies to ensure immediate recovery of the girls – -- Sheena, Jiya, and Diya.
Upon receiving reports of disappearance of the girls, Dr Ukrani had contacted the Sindh inspector general of police and ordered the formation of special teams for the swift recovery of the girls. Following his directive, the police successfully located and rescued the girls from Karachi.
Dr Ukrani stated that he had immediately informed the central president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Ladies Wing, Faryal Talpur, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar about the situation.
In response, the top leadership of the PPP and the chief minister issued urgent orders to ensure the recovery of the missing girls. He added that the timely and safe recovery of the girls had been deeply appreciated by the minority community, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the PPP leadership and the Sindh government for their tireless efforts and prompt actions.
Dr Ukrani emphasized that this incident is a serious violation of human rights and contributes to a growing sense of insecurity among minorities, something that is unacceptable in any civilized society. He reiterated that the PPP is committed to ensuring the protection of the life, property, and dignity of all minorities in Sindh and that their issues are being addressed on a priority basis.
He further asserted that this matter will not be overlooked and those found involved will face strict legal consequences. The special assistant also mentioned that the provincial government has already taken concrete steps for minority protection, including strengthening the Ministry of Minority Affairs and involving minority representatives in key decision-making processes.
