Adviser confirms death from Congo fever

PESHAWAR: Health Advisor to the Chief Minister, Ihtesham Ali, on Wednesday confirmed that a man had died of Congo fever the day before.

In a statement, he said that a total of six cases of suspected Congo fever had been reported in the province so far this year.Out of these, three cases were confirmed, while the Health Department had responded to all three confirmed cases.

?Ihtesham Ali said that on June 6, three patients suspected of having Congo fever were admitted to the Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar, of whom one stated to be in a critical condition, passed away. He said two other patients were now stable.

?The advisor said that before this incident, three suspected patients were brought to various hospitals in the province and all of them recovered and were discharged. ?He urged the public to strictly follow precautionary measures, especially during the handling and caring of animals.In case of any suspicious symptoms, people should seek medical attention at the nearest health facility, added the adviser.
