LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed registering restaurants and marriage halls across Punjab. She has directed taking prompt measures for the registration of all small and large restaurants as well as marriage halls.
Chairing a meeting here, she approved the decision for the registration of all restaurants and marriage halls across Punjab. She rejected all proposals to enhance taxes. She directed the relevant institutions to expand the tax net instead of merely increasing the tax rate. She asserted: “Increasing taxes to place unnecessary burden on the public will not be permitted at any cost. The owners of restaurants and marriage halls who get themselves registered should not be punished while tax evaders should not be allowed to go scot-free under any circumstance.” She emphasized that the government did not want to place any sort of financial burden on the common man. “A person earning Rs200,000 pays tax regularly, while those earning millions do not pay any tax and willfully indulge in tax evasion.” She directed the Punjab Revenue Authority, Mines & Minerals, and other government departments to explore new measures to generate as well as enhance revenue.
Maryam Nawaz arranged a luncheon for female inmates at the Multan District and Women’s Jail in collaboration with the Jalaluddin Rumi Foundation. Meals were provided for 1,500 female inmates and their young children.
The CM personally monitored cleanliness arrangements in small and big cities across Punjab on the three days of Eidul Azha. Commissioners in every division, deputy commissioners in every district and assistant commissioners in every tehsil personally went out into the field to make cleanliness arrangements.
