As tensions build: Trump offers to help India, Pakistan
We get along with both countries very well, good relationships with both, and I want to see it stop, says Trump
WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he wants India and Pakistan to stop attacking each other now and offered to help the two countries work out their differences amid rising tensions.
“I want to see it stop. And if I can do anything to help, I will be there,” he told reporters in the Oval Office.
“It’s so terrible,” Trump said at the White House.
“I get along with both, I know both very well, and I want to see them work it out. I want to see them stop. They’ve gone tit-for-tat, so hopefully they can stop now. We get along with both countries very well, good relationships with both, and I want to see it stop,” Trump said in the Oval Office.
“And if I can do anything to help, I will be there.”
In a related development, the IMF spokesman said the executive board meeting on Pakistan’s funding has been scheduled for May 9.
He said the IMF supports Pakistan’s economic programme through its Extended Fund Facility. He also expressed the hope for a peaceful resolution and de-escalation between India and Pakistan.
