Commissioner orders beautification of Abdullah Haroon Road

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Saturday directed city officials to transform Abdullah Haroon Road into one of the city's most beautiful thoroughfares.

He issued a series of instructions focused on beautification, development, and enforcement measures during a meeting held at his office to review ongoing works in District South. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi Khoso, Assistant Commissioner General Hazim Bhangwar, Municipal Commissioner of TMC Saddar Noor Hassan Jokhio, Director Parks Hassan Anwar, Asim Khan, and officials from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB).

Naqvi called for strict action against illegal immigrants, drug dealers, beggars, unauthorised parking, and scrap markets operating in the district. He instructed officials to prioritise the redevelopment of the greenbelt near Frere Hall and to beautify the street library with planters and seasonal flowers. Parking on Club Road was to be restricted from 8pm to 3am, and all faulty street lights in the area must be repaired or replaced. The SSWMB was ordered to remove garbage dumping points near Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University on University Road, while the KMC was tasked with beautifying and resurfacing the road.

The commissioner also directed the repair of street lights on Clifton Bridge, the plantation of trees along Shahrah-e-Iran, and the installation of seasonal flowers in front of the Red Crescent offices. He gave officials strict deadlines: resurfacing at the KPT Underpass must be completed within two days, and Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bhangwar and Municipal Commissioner Noor Hassan Jokhio were instructed to implement all directives within a week. Hassan Anwar was assigned to prepare and submit a detailed plantation report within three days.
