Death sentence of Wajiha Swati’s ex-husband upheld
Court had also ordered the convict to pay Rs500,000 in compensation to the heirs of the victim

RAWALPINDI. A sessions court on Wednesday upheld the death sentence awarded to the main accused in the kidnapping and murder case of US national of Pakistani origin, Wajiha Farooq Swati.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Rawalpindi Chaudhry Majid Hussain Gadi rejected the review application of the convict in this regard.
On November 12, 2022, Additional District and Sessions Judge (Rawalpindi) Muhammad Afzal Majoka had sentenced the victim’s ex-husband Rizwan Habib to death under three different sections, along with a total of 17 years in prison and a fine of Rs200,000.
The court had also ordered the convict to pay Rs500,000 in compensation to the heirs of the victim.
