Govt told to contact Interpol for extraditing Hammad Siddiqui
The SHC has directed the federal government and the FIA to contact Interpol to ascertain Hammad Siddiqui’s whereabouts and make arrangements for extraditing him.
Siddiqui is a former incharge of the MQM’s now-defunct Karachi Tanzeemi Committee, and a proclaimed offender in the Baldia Town factory fire case. The SHC’s direction came on a petition with regard to the extradition of Pakistani nationals who were involved in criminal cases from the UAE and other countries.
The court was earlier informed that red warrants had been issued against Siddiqui and received by all 192 Interpol states, while his CNIC and passport had been cancelled, with no new passport issued to him. An SHC division bench headed by Justice Mohammad Karim Khan Agha also sought a report on Syed Taqi Haider, another PO.
