Four new members appointed to CII
ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has welcomed four new members, bringing its total to the full 20-member strength.
The new appointments to the CII—a constitutional body that advises the legislature whether or not a certain law is repugnant to Islam – have been made by President Asif Ali Zardari with immediate effect.
The appointment of the new members will be for a period of three years, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice.
The four members are Muhammad Shafeeq Khan (Rana Shafeeq Pasruri), Sahibzada Hafiz Muhammad Amjad, Syed Saeedul Hassan and Syed Atiqur Rehman.
CII Chairman Dr. Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi welcomed the appointment of new members, and said it would help increase the efficiency of the council.
