Rain, gusty winds forecast

Saturday night’s scattered rain brought down the maximum temperature of the provincial metropolis a little down on Sunday while Met office predicted rain with dust raising winds on Monday (today).

Met officials said seasonal low lies over central Balochistan and its adjoining areas. They said that moderate moist currents from Arabian Sea were penetrating in upper/eastern parts of the country and likely to continue during next four to five days. A shallow westerly wave is also affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist during next 24 hours, they added. The officials predicted hot and dry weather in most parts of the country. They maintained that rain-thundershower with duststorm/strong gusty winds is expected at isolated places of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad, Hazara, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan, DG Khan, Zhob divisions, Fata, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rainfall was recorded in various cities, including Bahawalpur City, Malamjabba, Parachinar, Saidu Sharif, Kakul, Balakot and Kalam, Hunza, Gupis, Bunji and Garhi Dupatta.

Sunday’s maximum highest temperature was recorded at Padidan where mercury reached 47°C. Other cities where maximum temperature was above 40°C included Rohri, Shaheed Benazirabad and Dadu (46°C), Larkana, Dalbandin and Sibbi (45°C).
