Imran alleges £190m case verdict delayed to pressure him
PTI founder says £190m case was completely bogus case with no merit in it at all
ISLAMABAD: Former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan Monday said that the decision of £190 million Al Qadir Trust case was being delayed just to put pressure on him like the previous cases, demanding the decision in the case be issued immediately because it would expose the government.
“The £190mn case is a completely bogus case with no merit in it at all. I did not build a Bilawal House, but established a welfare institution in a remote village for the future of the children of the nation, from which I have not benefited a single rupee and will not benefit. The Qadir Trust University is also a public-aided welfare institution like Shaukat Khanum and Namal University,” he contended during his talk with the media and his team of lawyers in Adiala Jail.
He made it clear not to take NRO ‘like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari’ and that he would get his cases dismissed from the courts. He argued that Bushra Bibi has no contact with anyone. “This is just propaganda. Our negotiation committee is looking into these matters.”
“The product of rigging, the illegal but weak group standing on the back of Form 47, is actually a stain in the name of the government,” he charged. Imran said that he had seen all the martial laws imposed in Pakistan, namely the martial laws of Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Zia-ul-Haq and Musharraf, whereas the martial laws of Yahya and Zia were the worst martial laws in the history of Pakistan in which democracy was completely trampled.
Musharraf, he continued, was a bit liberal in this regard. “In martial law, democracy, independent judiciary, and independent media are first strangled so that no one raises their voice against the wrongdoings of the dictator.
To save the bogus and fraudulent government of Form 47, he claimed, the PTI is being continuously crushed, while democracy, rule of law, and independence of the judiciary have been trampled in the country.
Imran lamented that despite passage of six weeks, and the government has not made any progress regarding PTI’s missing persons. “This is a clear indication of the government’s lack of seriousness in achieving the success of the negotiations.”
About the national economy, he claimed that the economic situation in Pakistan is worst. Zero growth rate and artificially controlling the dollar is not an economic success. He added development in a country comes only through investment, and investment never comes in a country where the law had died, and the courts were not independent.
Meanwhile, during her media talks outside the Adiala Jail, Imran’s sister Aleema Khan quoted the PTI founder chairman saying what happened on November 26 would have to be accounted for.
“We will not forget or let it be forgotten. After November 26, those conditions are no longer there, we will raise our voice because we have seen many difficulties,” she quoted Imran. Aleema alleged that the government wanted to give the impression that her brother has come out with an NRO.
She said that Imran would immediately challenge the accountability court’s verdict in the high court if he was sentenced. “Imran Khan said that if the negotiations show seriousness, he will show speed, our two demands are before the government but no demand has come forward from the government,” she maintained. “Things will move forward after PTI’s dialogue committee meets Imran to apprise him about developments, however, it is not being allowed to meet him so far,” she added.
