An education
This refers to the letter, ‘Innovation driving economies’ (May 18) by Atta-ur-Rehman. The writer has rightly noted the importance of education for economic success. It cannot be improved by building roads, but by giving awareness to people. It is unfortunate that our annual budget for education is negligible when compared with any state in South Asia.
We should focus on education if we want to improve our socioeconomic indicators. In this regard, the Punjab government’s decision to offer foreign scholarships for students is noteworthy. Shahbaz Sharif’s government has also initiated skilled development programmes to improve earning and living standards of the poor, deprived and downtrodden people. Other provinces should also take such initiatives.
