Court rejects Chaudhry Tanvir bail plea in murder case

Chaudhry Tanvir, his two sons Daniyal and Osama and brother Changez are nominated in the FIR

RAWALPINDI: Additional District and Sessions Judge Rana Sohail Thursday denied bail to PMLN ex-senator Chaudhry Tanvir Khan for his alleged involvement in the killing of PTI ex-lawmaker Chaudhry Adnan and ordered his immediate arrest.

The court accepted bails of Daniyal Chaudhry, Osama Chaudhry and Chaudhry Changez for their alleged involvement in the case registered by the Civil Lines police on Feb 12. Chaudhry Tanvir, his two sons Daniyal and Osama and brother Changez are nominated in the FIR. Chaudhry Adnan, 48, an independent candidate in Feb 8 elections, was killed by unidentified motorcycle riders outside the Police Lines Headquarters. The murder occurred in the Civil Lines area. After the registration of FIR by Nadeem Iqbal, brother-in-law of the deceased, the police launched an investigation. According to the complainant, his brother-in-law Chaudhry Adnan was on his way home in Jhanda Chichi in a black SUV with his aides after negotiating a land issue at a housing society office. His vehicle was accompanied by another car. When the vehicles stopped at the traffic light near Jinnah Park, two unidentified men wearing ‘shalwar kameez’ came close to driving seat of Ch Adnan’s vehicle and opened fire at him. The FIR said Adnan was hit in the neck, face and other body parts while the assailants sped off on motorcycle. Chaudhry Adnan died on way to Benazir Bhutto Hospital. According to the FIR Chaudhry Adnan had political rivalry with the accused nominated in the FIR.
