Govt employees seek 100pc raise in KP
PESHAWAR: The employees of different government departments on Friday staged a protest to demand100 percent raise in their salaries.
The employees of education, health, Peshawar Development Authority, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar, Capital Metropolitan Government and other departments gathered outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
They employees were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in support of their demands. All Municipal Workers Chairman Riaz Khan and Mazdoor Ittihad chairman Qaiser Bacha spoke to the protesters. They asked the government to raise their salaries in proportion to the inflation. They said that the government had proposed a 10 percent raise, which was not acceptable to them and demanded a 100 percent raise.
They asked the government to increase the allocation for the government employees in the budget. They also demanded adjustment of the ad hoc relief in the basic salary. The protesting government employees also demanded a 100 percent raise in the medical allowance. They said that the medical allowance was 10 years old as the health care and medicines prices had increased 400 percent. They also demanded withdrawal of the cut introduced in the pension reforms and a minimum wage of Rs 50,000.The protesters demanded utility allowance for the WSSP and Municipal workers. They said that they would continue their protest if their demands were not met.
