Islamabad: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) have signed a cooperation agreement to enhance collaborative relief efforts and support humanitarian initiatives. The agreement was signed by Dr. Hilal Musaed Al-Sayer, Chairman of KRCS, and Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, Chairman of PRCS, says a press release.

This partnership will focus on several  key areas, including disaster management, health, climate change, youth engagement, resource mobilisation, organisational development, and migration.

During a visit to the KRCS headquarters in Kuwait, Chairman Laghari was warmly received by Dr. Hilal Musaed Al-Sayer, along with Deputy Chairman Dr. Anwar Abdullah Al Hasawi, Secretary General Maha Barjas Hamoud Al Barjas, Director General Abdul Rehman Al Aoun, and other board members.

Chairman Laghari engaged in discussions with senior KRCS officials to strengthen bilateral humanitarian relations and address current regional humanitarian challenges. He highlighted Kuwait’s consistent support during both peaceful times and crises, noting the significant aid provided by KRCS during the 2005 earthquake, 2010 and 2022 monsoon floods, which greatly benefited affected communities across Pakistan.

Chairman Laghari underscored the importance of this visit, noting the shared bond between the two Muslim nations and the Muslim Ummah. He is visiting national societies in the Middle East and Gulf states to seek meaningful collaborations with affluent nations to support Pakistan’s vulnerable populations, recognising KRCS as a particularly strong and historic partner. Dr. Hilal Musaed Al-Sayer praised the enduring and resilient relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait, highlighting the historical collaboration between PRCS and KRCS. He commended PRCS for its exemplary services under Chairman Laghari’s leadership and reaffirmed KRCS’s commitment to providing all possible cooperation.
