PARACHINAR: The elders of Kurram tribal district on Tuesday asked the government and high-ups of the Education Department to operationalize the already established college in Manato area to facilitate the students in acquiring quality higher education at the local level.

Talking to reporters, the elders, including Nawab Khan, Noormat Khan, Mazid Khan and others said that youths of the area could not get higher education due to the non-functional of college established by Pak Army in Manato area in 2017.

They said that Manato was located in a mountainous area some 26 kilometer away from tehsil headquarters Sadda where no internet facility was available and the students had serious problems in getting online education and doing businesses.

They said that students were coming from Murghan Darra, Mundan, Zawaki, Mela, Khattak Mela, Bagh and others after passing through difficult terrains. The elders also drew the attention of high-ups towards the lack of educational institutions for both boys and girls and urged them to take practical steps for the promotion of education in the area.
