JUIF chief vows to continue struggle against ‘election rigging’
Maulana Fazlur Rahman highlighted certain elements’ disregard for the sanctity of the vote and their tendency to manipulate sacred institutions for their interests
PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman said on Sunday that they would continue their struggle against the rigging in the February 8 elections until all the political parties were united on a single platform.
Addressing the party’s office-bearers from Peshawar, Mohmand, and Khyber districts on a video link, the JUIF president stated that his party has always fought against rigging in elections.
He emphasised their capacity to organise massive protests and fill the streets. “We would continue to fill grounds by staging massive protests. We would continue our struggle outside parliament against the rigged elections,” he asserted.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman highlighted certain elements’ disregard for the sanctity of the vote and their tendency to manipulate sacred institutions for their interests.
He criticised the acceptance of rigging by certain political parties in the February 8 elections, comparing it to the allegedly rigged 2018 general elections where widespread opposition was voiced.
The JUIF chief claimed that his party had historically led protests against election rigging, emphasising their commitment to fair and transparent elections. He criticised the lack of clarity and consensus among other political parties regarding the issue of rigging.
“Unless and until a unanimous and unambiguous stance is adopted by all the political forces against the engineering of elections by certain invisible forces, the JUI alone would continue its struggle from its platform,” he declared.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman urged party workers to raise awareness among the masses about the country’s situation and mobilise them for their cause.
He emphasised that JUI was the party of the people and would represent their interests.
Expressing concern over Pakistan’s economic challenges compared to India’s advancements, he urged authorities to address the situation. He also condemned the plight of Palestinians, urging support for their freedom struggle.
