Visit to Regi Lalma: Minister wants work expedited on Labour Complex

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour Fazal Shakoor Khan on Sunday directed the authorities concerned to expedite work on the Labour Complex at Regi Lalma Peshawar.

He directed the officials to get the occupied flats vacated in the labour colonies.A handout said that he issued the directives during his visit to the Workers Welfare Board in Hayatabad. The minister was accompanied by the secretary, chairman and other officials of the board.

The minister was briefed on the marriage and death grant.He was briefed that Rs200 million were approved for marriage grant but Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) Islamabad released only Rs93 million. A total Rs150 million budget for death grant was approved but only Rs42 million was released.

The marriage grant was disbursed among 338 and death grant to 70 beneficiaries. He said that the total budget approved for post-matriculation scholarship stood at Rs1350 million but only Rs480 million was released.

The minister was also briefed on the present status of Regi Lalma flats and was told that electrification work on the labour complex comprising 2056 flats in Regi Lalma Peshawar had been completed.

As soon as the Peshawar Electric Supply Company provided power supply to the complex, the Workers Welfare Board will apply for the issuance of a demand notice to install individual power meters. During the briefing, the minister was informed about the Hajj policy of the board and was told that every year 10 industrial workers were sent to perform Hajj through balloting.
