Excise officers asked to achieve revenue collection targets

LAHORE: Director General Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Punjab, Faisal Fareed, visited Excise Directorate Region B Lahore on Tuesday.

Director Excise Ahmed Saeed briefed him. The DG, issuing instructions for achieving April's targets and revenue recovery, emphasised the importance of timely tax payments by responsible citizens, stating that government systems rely on public taxes.

He urged citizens to demonstrate their responsible citizenship by paying their due taxes promptly. He instructed field officers to set targets for the remaining days of the fiscal year and to work diligently to achieve revenue collection targets. The DG warned underperforming inspectors while commending the exemplary performance of Inspector Altaf-ur-Rahman, Muzammil Sian, and Naseer Nuthar. Those inspectors who received warnings included Fida Hussain Shah, Maryam Butt, Muin Arshad, Habib-ur-Rahman, Khalid Zaman, Fakhar Riaz, Manzoor Hussain, Saif Malik, and Shahid Amin. Additionally, directions were issued to improve the performance of Excise and Taxation officers of Zone 14, Wasim Arif Butt, Zone 6, Asim Bashir, and Zone 19, Maqsood. It was disclosed during the briefing that Region B had achieved 84% of its target. The DG stated that along with strict action against major defaulters, delinquent commercial units would also be sealed.
