ISLAMABAD: Newly-appointed Islamabad IG Syed Ali Rizvi, a Grade 20 officer of the Police Service, is expected to take charge today (Monday) and will form his team. He will recommend the three DIGs for posting.

The outgoing Islamabad IG Akbar Nasir has relinquished his charge. He was also a Grade 20 officer and belonged 26 Common.

However, a technical issue has arisen that three DIGs posted in the Islamabad Police are of senior rank. The new IG Police belongs to the 31st Common.

DIG Safe City Khurram Janbaz and DIG Headquarters Hasan Raza Khan are one year senior to the new IG. Both belong to 30th Common. DIG Security Mohammad Owais is two years senior to the newly appointed IG Islamabad. He belongs to the 29th Common. The post of IG Police Islamabad is of Grade 21 but officers of both Grade 20 and 21 have been appointed to the post.

According to sources, the three senior officers (DIGs) of Islamabad Police have expressed serious concerns about working under their junior officer. After the appointment of the junior officer, the three senior officers have taken leave and have approached the Establishment Division for posting elsewhere. The Establishment Division officials have confirmed that the three DIGs are senior to the new IG but it is the discretion of the federal government to appoint IG Islamabad.
