LAHORE : The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed concern over NEPRA decision to increase power tariff by Rs4.57 per unit under monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) mechanism and feared that it would hit the trade and industry hard.
LCCI office-bearers on Sunday observed that the December FCA of Rs4.57 kWh would replace Rs4.13 kWh of November 2023.
LCCI President Kashif Anwar said that repeated hike in power tariff was hitting exports and local businesses alike.
He said that the trend of theft would increase due to the increase in electricity prices.
The Senior Vice-President Zafar Mahmood and Vice-President Adnan Khalid said that the government had increased the electricity prices many times which is injustice.
They said that the majority of people were sent bills many times more than their monthly income.
LCCI office-bearers said the cost of electricity in Pakistan was already very high compared to other countries in the region and Pakistani products were fast vanishing from the global market.
They demanded the government announce an immediate reduction in electricity prices.
