LAHORE : Pakistan will always support Iran like a brother in every time of trial and difficulty. The Punjab government strongly condemned the recent terrorism committed in Iran. Iran, like Pakistan, cannot bow down to terrorism. Provincial Minister for Information & Culture Amir Mir expressed the views while participating in a calligraphy contest held under the auspices of Iranian Cultural Centre on Saturday.
Amir Mir highlighted that the Islamic calligraphy art is a unique identity of the Muslims across the globe.
Iran is duly performing its duty by transferring this great Muslims heritage to the young generations. The Iranian Cultural Centre imparted calligraphy training to more than 200 male and female students every year at Lahore.
The minister acknowledged that the participation of various male and female students in the calligraphy competition is praiseworthy.
We are grateful to the Iranian Consulate General for holding such training programmes and competitions, he added.
Amir Mir while witnessing various calligraphy models stated that the beautiful amalgamation of Pakistan-Iran calligraphy depicts cultural homogeneity between the two countries.
Holy verses along with engraving of calligraphic inscriptions on the doors and walls of the mosques, shrines and holy places are our common heritage.
He maintained that calligraphy holds paramount significance in all the Islamic countries including Pakistan and Iran.
The Muslims earned great name and fame in the calligraphic art across the world and the holy verses calligraphy competitions are held across the globe.
Amir Mir highlighted that Pakistan produced many notable and renowned calligraphers of par excellence like Sadequain and Aslam Kamal. He congratulated the Iranian Consul General for holding such a glorious calligraphy completion.
Mir underscored that Pakistan and Iran can progress further among the comity of nations by living together with such splendid traditions.
