Islamabad’s 12,000 children to be brought to schools
Enrolment drive
Islamabad: After inaugurating the school enrolment campaign in Islamabad, Minister of State for the Capital Administration and Development Division Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Friday said the federal capital’s around 12,000 out-of-schools children would be enrolled in educational institutions during the one- month-long exercise.
The campaign was launched during a special ceremony here, where CADD secretary Hasan Iqbal and top Federal Directorate of Education officials were in attendance. A field survey done by the FDE in 2015 revealed that 11,835 children of Islamabad, who should be in schools, were not getting formal education.
In the light of the survey findings, out-of-school children are being made part of the formal education system. The minister said education was the basic right of each and every child and that the government was doing its best to fulfil the constitutional obligation to ensure basic education of every child.
He said a special incentive package would be announced for children enrolled in schools during the campaign to ensure continuation of their education. Dr. Tariq Fazal said the CADD would ensure the implementation of the law to eradicate child labour and bring all children to schools. He said school enrolment drives should be initiated across the country so that the children not attending schools for one reason or the other could be enrolled in schools.
