We all know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness regarding the disease. Pakistan has the highest rate of breast cancer in Asia. One out of nine Pakistani women is likely to suffer from breast cancer at some point in life. Approximately 90000 cases of breast cancer are reported every year in Pakistan and about 40000 women die from this deadly ailment. 90% women have a chance of surviving breast cancer with early diagnosis.Khadija Rahman with Sarahfeen

The good news is that there are many organizations who are trying to spread awareness regarding breast cancer through different programmes. So, keeping this in mind Pakistan’s leading retail clothing brand  ‘Generation’ has taken on the initiative to pass on the message to women who spend most of their time with us.

Khadija Rahman of the brand begins this year’s Pinktober campaign by educating her junior staff Sarahfeen about the dangers of breast cancer. Not only this, Khadija has also taught Sarahfeen, on how to perform a breast self-exam and the basic steps to ensure an early detection.

While they say charity begins at home, how often do we take it upon ourselves to raise awareness amongst the women that we spend time with? Whether she is a friend, relative or employee, you must pass the pink and educate her regarding breast cancer!

Surely this is a good initiative by one of our favourite brands to spread awareness regarding breast cancer and we hope that this will carry on in the future as well. Let’s do this girls and play our part in potentially saving a life!
