Mona J is one of the most sought-after beauticians of today’s time. She is the obvious choice of celebrities, A-listers and socialites who love to be pampered. Whether it is gorgeous blend of hair colours, luscious lashes, enigmatic eyes, hot lips or sexy kohled eyes, this celebrity make-up artist is known for creating sizzling looks.
Mona J is a trained beautician who started working from home a few years back and within no time she set up her own signature salon in 2006. Mona got her beautician education from beauty academies like Toni & Guy and Vidal Sassoon, Mudd (New York), and has also done a skin course from Singapore. Recently, she has done a makeup course from ‘Makeup Forever’ (New York). Mona J has recently launched her second spa-salon in Clifton, Karachi. This launch also marked the celebration of 10 years of Mona J’s aesthetic make-up and styling.
Creative makeovers:
At the event Mona J and her team displayed new trends in make-up and hair styling for the upcoming winter bride. Models Ayesha Omer, Anum Tanveer, Benita David and Hira Mani looked stunning in outfits by House of Umar Sayeed and glitzy jewellery by Nadia Chhotani. The elegant winter bride:
“I chose Ayesha Omer for this look because she is petite and beautiful. The bridal outfit was intricate and very blingy, so the eyes were kept subtle - brown, maroon and beige tones were used with a lot of shimmer. The base was glowy and dewy and the blush and lips were kept shimmery peachy pink,” shares the beautician.
For the hair, an up-do with a combination of twists and knots were given to complete Ayesha’s look.
The princess look
The runway look:
According to Mona, “Hira Mani’s dress was party wear so the focus was kept on the lips. The whole makeup look was matte. No shimmer was added. Eyes were kept light and a very blended look was given. For the blush I used crimson and plum and the lips were painted purplish brown with a hint of maroon.”
Hira’s hair was straight with a lot of volume to give a trendy yet sophisticated touch.
The elegant winter bride
The diva look:
“Model Anum Tanveer’s look was all about glittery eyes. We used brown, pink, green and black eye shadows along with shimmery gold shade on the eyes. Even under the eyes a lot of glittery shadow was used. For this look as well the base was dewy and glowy. Onion pink tone was used for the blush, while the lip colour was fresh pink with lots of gloss. Anum’s hair was kept very traditional with front centre parting and maang teeka. The rest of the hair was left loose and given very soft curls,” informs Mona.
The princess look:
“Benita was just the right choice for a princessy look. We gave her a very soft look and used various shades of pretty pinks.
This is basically a Valima bride look with a matha patti. Usually a wedding bride goes for a matha patti but we have experimented it with a Valima bride,” explains Mona.
“The base was very fresh and glowy. For the eyes a lot of shimmer was added along with pink and magenta hues. The lips and blush used on Benita was baby pink. Her hair was made into a braid and lots for strands were left loose to give a Cinderella effect,” she adds.
The spa-salon:
Many celebrities, media persons and socialites were spotted at the launch event, organized by Tehmina Khaled of Take II. At the launch Mona says, “I am excited because it has been our long due dream to open a spa-salon which is one of a kind. We aim to provide the best hair n makeup services along with our newly introduced Turkish Hammam and Hydro Therapy. These two are the highlights of the new spa and salon, as none of the spas are offering such relaxing services.”
The spa-salon also offers various types of massages and reflexology treatments and also has different kind of specialized facials as well spa manicures and pedicures.
Being the pioneer in state of the art transformation for the looks of many celebrities over a decade, Mona J has developed a long list of celebrities as well as socialites as her loyal clientele. “Creating a customized look for every face, keeping in mind the features and hair, is like creating a statement. We make sure that every woman who enters the salon is treated like a celebrity and leaves as a satisfied customer,” concludes Mona.
