The options are pretty much endless, but if you’re looking for a simple bonding activity that doesn’t require expert-level planning, then consider watching a great dad-themed movie together. Fatherhood (2021)

Inspired by Matthew Logelin’s memoir, Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love, this feel-good dramedy follows Matthew (played by Kevin Hart), who becomes a single dad when his wife unexpectedly passes away after welcoming their child (played by Melody Hurd). Expect a few chuckle-worthy moments and plenty of parenting fails. As expected, the comedy leaves you in splits, especially those unleashed by the insanely funny Lil Reid Howery, who plays the role of Jordan – Matthews’s best friend. The movie leaves you emotionally satisfied. A relatable coming-of-age comedy-drama where the dad matures emotionally, along with his daughter. The perfect father’s day watch.

Onward (2020)

Ian and Barley, two elf brothers, go on a magical adventure to reunite with their late father, but not without some challenges along the way. This unconventional Father’s Day film follows elf brothers as they set out on an epic quest to bring back their long-lost father. This funny animated feature from Pixar is for all the father-figure types we have in our lives that are worth celebrating alongside our biological dads. It features plenty of timely themes and a star-studded cast including, Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer.

Like Father (2018)

After her fiancé leaves her, Rachel decides to spend her honeymoon cruise with her estranged father. As they bond, they develop a newfound appreciation for life - and each other.

He travels through time and space to discover if mankind has a future among the cosmos. Interstellar explores the father and daughter relationship of Cooper and Murph, who he had to leave to go on a risky space mission. Apart from the incredible Matthew McConaughey, the score makes Christopher Nolan’s movie even more gripping and heart-wrenching.

Father’s Day (1997)

A classic father’s day movie. The plot follows Jack (played by Billy Crystal) is a straitlaced lawyer with a loving wife (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and Dale (played by Robin Williams) is unhappy about his stalled career as an artist. The only thing they have in common is Collette (played by Nastassja Kinski), with whom they both had an affair years ago. Unbeknownst to the two men, she had a son, Scott (played by Charlie Hofheimer), who is now missing. After she tells Jack and Dale that one of them could be the father, the pair set out to find Scott and prove who the real father is. But it’s only a matter of time before both men cross paths and figure out what’s really going on.
