Rejuvenated by the revival of cinema, music scene, and by proxy musicians, dabbling across several genres have found themselves a new lease on life. Album releases may have diminished but film albums featuring artists, both old and new, is giving music a much-needed boost. And this may well be the perfect time for aspiring musicians to throw their hat in the ring.

This is where the music show for the young, Nescafe Basement, which made its debut in 2012, is proving to be such a force. It gives a platform to future artists where they not only collaborate with other musicians, but also learn how to handle themselves in a studio environment. A stint on Nescafe Basement, therefore, can lead to great things. Think Soch, the band, who found themselves on the show in its early years, an act that has gone onto pick up a coveted IIFA nomination among several other achievements.

And after weeks of sweating it out, the list of short-listed candidates is finally out.

From Lahore, the four candidates who made the cut include Yasrah Haseeb (Vocals/Keyboards), Asif Amin (Tabla), Anushae Babar Gill (Backing Vocals) and Anna Salman while Hasan Farid Zafar (Guitars) will be the lone representative of Islamabad.
