Darren Aronofsky was initially in talks to direct the film but dropped out. Then David Fincher and Rooney Mara were attached to the project, but that didn’t pan out either. Finally Francis Lawrence was announced as the director and Jennifer Lawrence as the protagonist.
Is Francis Lawrence’s first film after the Hunger Games franchise, which also starred Jennifer Lawrence.
