The cover story ‘Exploring realities at YLC 2016’ published in your last issue was really moving. The writer beautifully described how the visit to Edhi Village touched her emotionally. This story helped me understand why it is important to walk a mile in others’ shoes to understand their experience.

Hey Eddy,

The cover story ‘Exploring realities at YLC 2016’ published in your last issue was really moving. The writer beautifully described how the visit to Edhi Village touched her emotionally. This story helped me understand why it is important to walk a mile in others’ shoes to understand their experience. I really appreciate the team behind Young Leaders Conference; they managed to arrange such meaningful activities for the participants! I think these conferences should be arranged more frequently.

Hey Editor,

I regularly read your magazine and love it. The sections, ‘Game Review’ and ‘The Green Room’ are my favourite. And it would be really great if you guys could also manage a section on sports.

Dear Editor,

I have not seen ‘My Teenage Years’ for a couple of weeks. Have you stopped this section? It was really fun to read about what famous celebrities used to be like in their teenage years. I suggest you should publish this section regularly. I also loved the new layout of the section ‘The Green Room’.

The story ‘Something Pakistani’ was an interesting write-up by Fatima Zakir. It is great to know that some people are coming up with innovative ideas for their businesses. This would definitely encourage others to turn their ideas into market realities.

Food for thought

Dear Ed,

The month of August is special for all of us and we should celebrate our country’s independence with enthusiasm and joy. However, we should also resolve to do at least one selfless thing for our country that is in our power. Is it too much too ask?

Rio Olympics 2016

Hello Editor,

I love watching sports. Though Pakistanis don’t show much excitement for the Olympics, I am addicted to it. We get to see a variety of interesting games: gymnastics, archery, water polo, fencing and so many other things. It is disappointing that only seven athletes are representing Pakistan in the Rio Olympics 2016. I think if we figure out what needs to be done to tap the exceptional talent in our country, we can surely have greater representation next time. We need to create opportunities for ourselves and work hard. It doesn’t matter if we don’t win medals, but it does matter if we don’t show up and tell the world that we cannot compete there.

US MAILNarrated

by Abu Huraira (R.A)

Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) said, “While a man was walking, he felt thirsty and went down a well and drank water from it. On coming out of it, he saw a dog panting and eating mud because of excessive thirst. The man said, ‘This (dog) is suffering from the same problem as that of mine. So, he (went down the well) filled his shoe with water, caught hold of it with his teeth and climbed up and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for his (good) deed and forgave him.” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W)! Is there a reward for us in serving (the) animals?” He replied, “Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate.”
