BITS ‘N’ PIECES
Narrated by Abu Huraira (R.A)
The Prophet (P.B.U.H.) said, “Allah said, ‘I will be an opponent to three types of people on the Day of Resurrection:
1. One who makes a covenant in My Name, but proves treacherous;
2. One who sells a free person and eats his price; and
3. One who employs a labourer and takes full work from him but does not pay him for his labour.’”

Summers are the busiest time for tourism around the globe and the peak time for travel to many popular destinations. And the most popular destination is France, the Western European country that holds the honour of being the most visited country in the world.
With a rich cultural and historical heritage, France hosts around 100 million international tourists annually, ahead of Spain (93.8 million in 2024) and the United States (72.4 million).
Home to an estimated 68 million people and the 20th most populous country in the world, France is a hub of art, culture, and cuisine, with its iconic landmarks recognized globally.
The most popular tourist sites in the country include the medieval Catholic cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris (13.6 million annual visitors); the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur church (10.5 million); Eiffel Tower (6.2 million), the famous wrought-iron lattice tower that marked the centennial anniversary of the French Revolution; the former royal residence Château de Versailles (2.8 million); the ancient Roman aqueduct bridge Pont du Gard (1.5 million); and the Arc de Triomphe historical monument (1.2 million).
France, especially its capital Paris, also has some of the world’s largest museums, including the Louvre, which is the most visited art museum in the world (8.5 million).
The country has 52 sites inscribed in UNESCO’s World Heritage List that make it of interest to global travellers. Additionally, several beaches and seaside resorts, ski resorts, and rural regions also attract visitors for their beauty and tranquillity.
Tourism contributes significantly to the French gross domestic product, representing almost 10% of the country’s GDP. The country, however, ranks third in tourism-derived income due to the shorter duration of visits. Its rich history and deep appreciation of art and culture, though, make it one of the most popular and the most visited country in the world.
