Dear Editor,

I am a 60-year-old reader of Us magazine. In case you are wondering why I read Us, which is the only magazine for the youth in the country that is a part of a newspaper, let me tell you I read it with my young grandson who is 15 years of age.

I think Us has all the ingredients of a good magazine, but it lacks religious content. We are a Muslim country, and our publications should reflect this. I am not suggesting a sermon to the young people at all; I am aware that they would stop reading if your start doing that. I want articles that can help the youngsters embrace discipline, cleanliness, respect for elders, and love for their parents.

I feel that while the current generation is very careful about selecting good schools for their children, they don’t have time to inculcate moral values to their children. That is one reason the moral fibre of our society has become almost torn to shreds. Hope my suggestion finds favour with you.

Dear Ed,

Movies that clicked in 2023, in the issue of 1 December, was a very good roundup of the movies that wowed us all this year. As usual, Fatima Zakir was succinct but spot on. Muhammad Omar Iftikhar’s The spectacle of the 2023 Cricket World Cup was also well-written. Unfortunately, Pakistan failed to make its presence felt, so reading it made me feel bad about the poor show by our team. One request: please make Potpourri a permanent part of Us.
