Coronavirus has had an impact on almost everything around the globe, from cancellation of everyday life like schools to public events, and it seems no industry has been immune to it.

In Pakistan, with around 30 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Karachi, several activities have either been postponed or canceled.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made major changes to the Pakistan Super League V (PSL V) schedule while it was also announced last week that matches will take place without viewers in attendance. Similarly, according to recent reports, cinemas across Pakistan have also been shut down for the next two weeks.

The latest news in the light of the present situation is that the Fashion Pakistan Council has postponed the upcoming annual Fashion Pakistan Week 2020 that was scheduled to take place next month. Dates have been pushed ahead to sometime later this year, instead of April 9 to 11.

“Due to the increased outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) the Fashion Pakistan Council (FPC) announces the decision to postpone its annual event, Fashion Pakistan Week 2020 until further notice,” read a statement by FPC. “The decision to delay comes in the wake of the coronavirus spread and the precautionary measures taken by local authorities to enforce social distancing.”

FPC chairperson, Maheen Khan noted, “At this time of a global pandemic, we will assess the situation later during the year, with regards to the rescheduling of Fashion Pakistan Week 2020. We have informed our designers and sponsors, who agree with our decision and together we’ll re-access later in the year.”
