Kami Sid talks about her upcoming project

Transgender model and activist Kami Sid, who made headlines for featuring as the protagonist in the award-winning short Rani, is all geared up for another short film, which according to recent reports is about the transgender community in Pakistan. Talking to online portal Something Haute, the Rani actor revealed that the upcoming short film is co-written by her. “My new venture is a trans love story. My aim is to break the stereotype ingrained in our society that nobody can fall in love with a transgender,” shared Kami.

“It’s basically a love story, but we will incorporate several other elements in it,” she said, adding that she and her friend Khursand Bayar Akhtar, who hails from Lahore, have co-written the story of the forthcoming short.

Moreover the actor and model shared that they are almost done with the story and have plans to produce the yet-to-be-titled short themselves. On a parting note, Kami Sid also revealed that they plan to show their upcoming project in Pakistan and take it to international film festivals as well. “Our intent is to change mindsets of people who still alienate transgenders,” she added.

While Rani, which was also a story about a transgender who supports herself as a Pakistani toy vendor (essayed by Kami Sid) and sets out to take care of an abandoned baby, let’s wait and see exactly what Kami’s new venture has to offer.
