One of the most sought after actresses in Pakistan, Saba Qamar has some remarkable performances to her credit. The actress, who is also the new Lux girl, has been generating rave reviews for her powerful performance in the on-going drama serial Cheekh. She essays the role of Mannat, a strong woman who raises her voice against evil.
Saba Qamar spoke to reporter Haroon Rashid of BBC Asian Network on the sidelines of the recently held Lux Style Awards, where she paid a tribute to veteran actress Shabnam by performing on one of her [Shabnam’s] famous songs.
Given her strong performances, Haroon Rashid began by praising her performance in Cheekh to which she responded, “I put my heart and soul in it. It was very tough for me.”
The actress further noted, “We are facing so many issues; there are so many things we need to talk about and that is why I take up such characters in serials like Cheekh and Baaghi.”
When asked whether it was hard to get into character and why she keep picking challenging projects, Saba said that it is very hard to portray such characters. “However, as I said earlier we need to talk about these issues. We are facing them and if we don’t raise our voice who will? Now is the time to speak,” she added.
