The French electronic music duo, through their new single, ‘Spread the Vibe’ showcase love and gratitude to the people after performing in Pakistan earlier this year.

FDVM comprises of the initials of Florent Denecker & Victorien Mulliez. The French electronic music duo - performed in Pakistan in 2019 - including playing a ticketed Salt Arts show in Karachi, Solis festival and Lahooti Melo 2019. Victorien Mulliez also visited a village earlier, and the shrine of Bhit Shah, courtesy of Saif Samejo. The duo has released a new music video and single featuring their time in Pakistan.

With their upbeat performances, and amicable attitude, they won hearts and minds wherever they went. Victorien Mulliez also played a private show prior to these pubic gigs.

Speaking to Instep after those three shows, FDVM noted, “It is our role to show the world and if we as artists don’t come to places like Pakistan, who is going to change that perception? We will probably be back in Pakistan in November (if things work out) later this year.”

Therefore, it is not shocking that their latest single, ‘Spread the Vibe’ feat. Ezee - backed by a music video - is essentially about their journey through Pakistan. It shows the duo in a rickshaw, outside Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, at Lahooti Melo 2019 in Jamshoro, Sindh, happily getting their pictures taken with fans while wearing an ajrak, being interviewed for the radio by Khalid Malik, jamming with local musicians, walking through the streets and hitting a music shop with the video ending with a sharp focus on the flag of Pakistan.

Their blend of music, as they described it to Instep in an earlier conversation is not just one thing. “We do deep house. That’s the genre. Within it, we’re blending some new disco. Somebody here called it ‘firehouse’. It is music that carries a positive vibe, a good vibe to it and that’s quite powerful at some point. Our music is not divisive. It can be tribal, can include singing and we want to bring something new to it.”

As for the why, noted the press statement, “This video will significantly help to portray the soft image of Pakistan and further amplify the narrative of peace, love and celebration. More importantly, it will encourage foreign travelers to visit Pakistan, promote tourism and consequently, will have a positive impact on the local economy.”

With ‘Spread the Vibe’ music video, they’ve managed to do that, focusing on the country’s rich culture, the young as well as so much Pakistan has to offer. The music video is also meant to be a sign of gratitude to fans who welcomed them with open arms. Check out their new single now. It is really something.
