Predicting 2018 Emmy Awards

With the Primetime Emmy Awards 2018 nominations all set to be announced today, predictions regarding which series, TV movies, and actors will end up bagging the nominations, have emerged.

It has been predicted that in the drama series category, Netflix’s The Crown and Stranger Things, HBO’s Game of Thrones and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale will get nods for sure. However, the only new series that has a fighting shot in this category is AMC’s Killing Eve, starring Sandra Oh in the titular role.

As far as the category of comedy is concerned, this year’s field promises to be popping with debut shows such as HBO’s Barry, Netflix’s Glow and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Other than that, there are a couple of revival shows to consider as well, from ABC’s Roseanne to NBC’s Will and Grace. The returning Matt LeBlanc series, Episodes (Showtime) and HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, also have a shot.

The limited series category is quite exciting with probable contenders being The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (FX), Godless (Netflix), Howards End (Netflix) and The Looming Tower (Hulu).

Predictions suggest that Showtime’s Twin Peaks might miss the cut this time around.

Moving on to the ‘television movie’ category some contenders include Netflix’s Black Mirror: USS Callister, HBO’s Fahrenheit 451, HBO’s Paterno, HBO’s The Tale and Lifetime’s Flint.

Apart from series and TV movies, some of the actors who might bag a nomination in the drama series category include Jason Bateman for Ozark, Sterling K. Brown for This Is Us, Emilia Clarke for Game of Thrones, Claire Foy for The Crown and Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid’s Tale. We’re also hoping to find Sandra Oh nominated for her performance in Killing Eve. While there are more categories and more shows that will certainly get a nod or two, let’s see how things fare and who is snubbed when the nominations are unveiled.
