For the past several weeks, maybe months, there is a story that refuses to die. And that story is of a possible Junoon reunion. There were rumours that Junoon will reunite for a concert. It didn’t happen.

Most recently, the rumour (that has taken a life of its own) is that the original line-up featuring Salman Ahmed and Ali Azmat will take the stage during Pepsi Battle of the Bands.

The Junoon reunion story became bigger after Salman Ahmed shared an image of himself with Ali Azmat with the words: “Rocking in Lahore with rain, wind, thunder and lightning.”

Ali Azmat also cheekily shared the image with the caption: “Maula Jutt te Noori Nutt.”

As always, social media is filled with fans that are wondering what is going on and whether this reunion is coming. But in a telephonic conversation with Instep, Ali Azmat explicitly noted, “Wrong! It’s not true!” before adding that a conversation had happened at some point. But it isn’t happening. So there you have it.

Considering the kind of songs Ali Azmat has written since leaving Junoon - on his solo albums such as Social Circus and Klashinfolk - this reunion rumour and the hype it brings needs to die down now. As for Ali Azmat, he’s collaborating with Abid Brohi and Khumariyaan for the upcoming season of Cornetto Pop Rock so watch out. This will be special.
