The comic book film we have all been waiting for, Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, is finally on the verge of releasing. In fact, a special premiere was held in Los Angeles on Monday night and most reviews coming in are in favour of the multi-superhero feature. Though full reviews are embargoed for the moment, reactions of critics suggest Infinity War is exactly the film we thought it would be.

Rodrigo Perez of The Playlist noted on social media that the film is “stress-inducing, full of dread, darker than usual, yet, funny as hell and super entertaining….Blockbuster noise? Yes, but with emotional stakes attached.”

Matt Singer from ScreenCrush thought that the film is “a movie version of a massive comic-book crossover, for better (fun character interactions) and worse (it’s pretty much all Infinity Stone shenanigans).”

Joshua Yehl from IGN Comics’ noted that the film “never lets up. I sat in my chair stunned as the credits rolled, speechless and sobbing.”

On the night of the premiere, several members of the cast including Robert Downey Jr., Pom Klementieff, Tom Holland, Paul Bettany, and Zoe Saldana also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel live. As for the premiere itself, it attracted fans and stars in equal vein and was not just a celebration of the upcoming film but a celebration of Marvel Cinematic Universe, which turned 10 this year.

Actors from the many Marvel films - who will be seen together in Avengers: Infinity War - hit the red carpet in style; that includes Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Pratt, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Winston Duke, Samuel L. Jackson, Benedict Wong, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Josh Brolin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Bettany, Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd.

Meanwhile the film’s directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, tweeted from their shared account that fans should avoid the Internet until the film comes out officially to avoid spoilers.

“Tonight, at our premiere in Los Angeles, we are screening Avengers: Infinity War in its entirety for the first time ever. If you truly want to avoid any spoilers until you see the film, we recommend you abstain from any social media, or the Internet in general, until you have an opportunity to get to the theater,” read the tweet.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27.
