Shah Rukh Khan, the 50-something superstar, is no longer in the race to beat the box office by doing predictable romantic roles or senseless masala films. And nothing makes this ambition of his more clear than the upcoming film, Zero, in which a pint-sized Khan is set to take on the world.
The film, which marks the first collaboration between SRK and director Anand L. Rai (whose past credits include Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa and Happy Bhag Jayegi) arrived with its title and teaser on January 1 and since then has been garnering a lot of attention. Khan announced the title and teaser himself via social media and given his 32 million followers on Twitter alone, it seemed like the right call.
In Zero, Khan will be seen essaying the role of a vertically challenged man, known more colloquially as a dwarf. In the teaser of the film, Khan’s character is performing with silly abandon to old Bollywood songs in a tux and shorts.
The teaser also highlights how visual effects have played a crucial role in creating Khan’s character with his production house, Red Chillies, spearheading the whole thing.
Apart from all this, SRK will also share the screen with his Kuch Kuch Hota Hai co-stars Kajol and Rani Mukherji in Zero after 19 years. Both of them are making a cameo appearance. Other celebrities slated to appear in the film, albeit in a guest appearance, include Alia Bhatt, Sri Devi and Karisma Kapoor.
Slated to release on December 21 of this year (2018), Zero also includes Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, who co-starred with Khan in Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
