It was recently announced that the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest cinematic outing, Padmavati has been postponed given the controversies surrounding the film. While Rajput Karni Sena had announced a nationwide ban on the film, the director and leading lady Deepika Padukone were issued death threats and it was getting increasingly difficult for the makers to release their film in India. However, as per recent development, Padmavati has been cleared with a 12A certificate by the British Board of Film Classification and is scheduled to release in UK on December 1.

The website of British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) says that the film has been passed without any cuts and will release there on December 1. The certification given to the film is 12A, which means that kids under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult to watch the film in a theater. The site also carries a note for parents that states, “Some versions of this film are displayed in the 3D or IMAX format and some younger children may find them to be a more intense experience.”

This means that viewers in the UK will be able to watch the film before their Indian counterparts as the release date of the film in India is yet to be announced.

Aside from Padukone, Padmavati also stars Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in prominent roles.
