Ahsan Khan to write a book on child sexual abuse

Last year’s hit drama serial, Udaari that featured Ahsan Khan, Bushra Ansari and Samiya Mumtaz in pivotal roles, was more than just another usual TV production. While on one end, it created awareness among masses and helped change lives for better, it also stirred a constructive conversation on the issue of child sexual abuse that the play talked about. Khan, who essayed the role of a child molester in Udaari has been actively engaged in taking the cause further even after the play concluded and the recent effort in this direction is a book he is writing on the subject.

Titled Coming Of Age – My Education in Child Sexual Abuse, the book will consist of three sections that will comprise Khan’s experience with the subject, information and awareness for the masses.

“The welfare and happiness of children is very important to me,” Khan said while sharing what led to this initiative. “When I was preparing for my role as a sexual predator in Udaari, I studied the problem of child sexual abuse in great detail, especially as it exists in Pakistan. The statistics were horrifying. I was deeply distressed to learn about the pervasiveness of the menace in our country and made a promise to myself to fight and help reduce, and, hopefully, eliminate child sexual abuse from not only Pakistan but the entire globe. The book is a first step towards making good on the promise.”

The actor turned writer also informed that the book is expected to come out in the spring of 2018 and a book tour is also in the pipeline in the summer of the same year, aimed at spreading a strong message through light activities.
