Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, a strong supporter of cultural exchange and cross-border ties, will continue to explore the subject of Indo-Pak relationship in an upcoming film. The filmmaker, who was recently in Chandigarh to unveil the first look of his first Punjabi venture, Dushman, with the film’s cast such as Kartar Cheema, Jashan Singh and Sakhshi Gulati and director Shagufta Rafique, confirmed this story.

Speaking on the matter, Bhatt stated: “I do not believe in the idea of dividing the human race into ‘us’ and ‘them.’ As I see it, the responsibility lies on the shoulders of storytellers and other intellectuals to create the feeling of ‘we’ in the hearts of people on both sides of the border.”

Reiterating his point further, Bhatt explained: “Indo-Pak relationship is a topic which ignites pain in the hearts of people for both the countries. Everyone wishes to see India and Pakistan as friendly neighbours, but a deep wound is still fresh which is bleeding till date and we haven’t been able to soothe it. This movie is our attempt to improve sentiments between the two countries.”

According to reports, the soundtrack of the film will feature music maestros from both sides of the border. In the meantime, fans can also look out, in Pakistan at least, for Shaan Shahid’s interpretation of Arth, Mahesh Bhatt’s cult classic.
