Ever since Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor-Khan decided to name their newly born son Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, there’s has been widespread outrage on social media. Since the name refers to the 14th century conqueror, who is reported to have killed over 12 million people in his military campaigns, the name hasn’t gone down too well with the people of India who have mocked the couple for this act.

While the celebrity couple didn’t react to the sudden outrage, Kareena’s Uncle, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor spoke in their defense and asked people to mind their own business. This happened a few days back, soon after the birth of the child and the situation seems to have toned down. However, there is more to the issue.

The veteran actor recently shared a picture of Johnty Rhodes with his daughter and compared the situation with Rhodes naming his daughter ‘India’. The picture explains the reason behind the name in these words, “I learned human values there, I learned yoga there, I learned different religions’ diversity there… so we named our daughter India.”

Using the picture to prove his point, Rishi Kapoor tweeted, “You caught it right! Thank you Johnty Rodes for that. Only parents have the right to name their kids whatever.”

This gave rise to a whole new argument as negative remarks started pouring in. One tweet read, “So what did you and your family learnt from Taimur? Rape, killing, looting, torturing?” while another stated, “Even hardcore anti Hindu terrorists don’t name their child ‘Taimur’, Saif and family worse than them.”

These and similar comments have led to a whole new battle on Twitter where the auspicious occasion of a birth has turned into a social media abomination.
