Katrina Kaif, star of the recent flop vehicle, Baar Baar Dekho, is not having a very good year it seems. The actress, having won the Smita Patil Memorial Award, is facing insults and negative feedback on social media for being bestowed with the honour that has been instituted in memory of the late actress Smita Patil, and has been given to the likes of Sri Devi, Madhuri Dixit and Tabu, among others.

Kaif was chosen for this year’s award for her supposedly outstanding contribution to cinema. The Priyadarshan Academy, which has been giving out these awards after every two years since 1984, said the jury unanimously voted for Kaif for “being an outstanding individual who had shown excellence in her work.”

We ourselves are scratching our head because we can’t come up with a single movie, or role, that Kaif has done that could be deemed memorable.

However, Patil’s son, Prateik Babbar, who has appeared in films such as Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Dhobi Ghaat, responded kindly to this news. “It’s good news, I have heard she is a hardworking actress.”

Other winners of the award include names like Vidya Balan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.
