Atif Aslam most definitely is much more than a playback singer but even so, we can’t help feel a tad bit excited when he’s rumoured to be rapping with Akon in upcoming film Tum Bin 2 (which we’re not so excited about). Atif Aslam most definitely is much more than a playback singer but even so, we can’t help feel a tad bit excited when he’s rumoured to be rapping with Akon in upcoming film Tum Bin 2 (which we’re not so excited about). Akon made a successful Bollywood debut when he lent his voice to ‘Chammak Challo’ for Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One (2011), directed by Anubhav Sinha, and buzz has it that the filmmaker has roped in Akon once again to sing Tum Bin 2 end credits with Atif Aslam. Apparently Sinha is keen to recreate the ‘Tumhare Siva Kuch Na’ track from Tum Bin (2001) as it had topped music charts that year. Ankit Tiwari will compose the romantic song to be sung by Atif Aslam with Akon singing the hook-line in Hindi. Negotiations are underway and nothing is confirmed yet, though.
We’re excited that these filmy tracks keep Atif on our playlists – he’s sung ‘Dil Disco’ for Actor in Law, ‘Toota Jo Kabhi Tara’ for A Flying Jutt and our favourite from the season, ‘Tere Sang Yaara’ for Rustom – but the most exciting thing Atif has done in the past three months is ‘I’m Alive’ with Swedish artist Maher Zain. Nothing beats an original song and that is what we need to hear more of. We hope he’s listening!
