Wajahat Rauf’s sequel to Karachi Se Lahore has audiences anticipating the film for a number of reasons. For starters, it features Saba Qamar in a role a lot different from her usual ‘cry me a river’ disposition on television. Secondly it has the first film’s favourite character, Moti, taking the lead (Yasir Hussain’s comic timing is almost flawless). Finally, the soundtrack for the film has been composed by the inimitable Shiraz Uppal. And the teaser to this highly anticipated film is out.
The lush mountains and river banks of the Northern Areas look breathtaking and the little glimpse of the soundtrack in the song, ‘Befikriyaan’, promises a refreshing take on music but it leaves us wondering and worrying about the casting. Will Yasir Hussain do justice to a role of a romantic hero? He was terrific as the stuttering Moti in Karachi Se Lahore, but will he be as effective in a romantic role? We have to say we find him running through the green fields a little awkward. But he has our attention, which could be the intention! Of course, a verdict can only be given once the film releases on November 11, this year.
